Madhabi Puri Buch, the newly appointed SEBI chairperson in 2022, is not new to the financial world. She has already served in SEBI as a whole-time member. But the times have changed a lot in the past couple of years in SEBI. Here we are discussing the 7 biggest challenges Madhabi Puri Buch is going to face as the new chairperson of SEBI. This list of course starts with the recent cases of NSE Yogi and Chitra Ramkrishna.
And not to forget the big NSE Co-location Scam. But there are several others as well such as the Great IPO debacles of the past year especially that of Paytm. If such IPO keep getting the SEBI nod and then prove to be a complete flop, this only and only means that the regulatory body under her leadership does not care about the investors of India.
There are some operational challenges Ms Buch is going to face. For example, the recruitment process in SEBI has been pretty slow and this, in turn, affects the operational efficiency of the SEBI office. This lack of efficiency needs to be rectified as it is one of the reasons that the timely penalizing process is missing. The wrongdoers get caught, however, SEBI penalizing process seems inadequate and futile keeping in mind the value of frauds that are being committed.
Oh, and how can one forget the genuine concern among traders over the dictatorial imposing of SEBI's new margin rule. If Madhabi Puri Buch really wants to bring glory back to SEBI, the path simply leads to bringing back the margin for traders of India who are suffering too much.
