Carla Vicentini had always nurtured a dream of immersing herself in the vibrant life of a big American city. Her aspirations finally materialized on January 16th, 2006, when she arrived in Ledgewood, New Jersey from Brazil. However, the exchange program she had enlisted in proved to be lacking, both for her and another exchange student named Maria. Recognizing the need for a change, the two friends took matters into their own hands on February 6th, 2006, relocating to Newark to seize control of their American adventure.
Their new abode was an apartment on Ferry Street, graciously hosted by Jose Fernandes, a distant acquaintance of Carla's father. Despite the initial setup, only 22 days into Carla's planned 5-month stay, the course of events took a dark turn. Under perplexing circumstances, Carla disappeared after a visit to the Adega Bar and Grill, where she was last seen leaving with an unidentified man. The shroud of mystery surrounding her vanishing has persisted, haunting both her loved ones and the community to this day.
