On this episode of The Rad Revival House, we've got more Made-For-TV madness with the action-packed late 1970s thriller RELENTLESS!
The film stars legendary Indigenous-American actor icon Will Sampson, who was hot off his supporting role success from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and into lead-role status with this film as Arizona State Trooper Sam Watchman. An easygoing yet no-nonsense lawman, Watchman springs into action when a vicious band of military-trained bank robbers kills his uncle during a bank heist. Consumed with revenge, Watchman must use his tracking skills to hunt down these thieving commandos all over the Arizona wilds! Along with the steely Sampson, RELENTLESS also boasts a bevy of classic veteran character actors, including John Hillerman ("Magnum: PI," "Chinatown," "Blazing Saddles"), Larry Wilcox ("CHIPS"), Monte Markham ("Guns of the Magnificent Seven").
Our host, Professor Cesare Augusto, explores just what makes RELENTLESS special: it's fabulous cast, breakneck action sequences, and stellar production values despite its obvious Made-For-TV presentation. Cesare also points out the film's strong similarities with other, more famous pictures, including "First Blood" and even Michael Mann's "Heat"! Tune in to our review of RELENTLESS and catch the film in its entirety available now on YouTube.
