Join host Professor Cesare Augusto as he explores this Harry Belafonte-produced musical genre as aspiring Bronx DJ Kenny "Double K" Kirkland (Guy Davis), his breakdancing kid brother Lee (Robert Taylor) and their friends all seek to fulfill their musical ambitions in New York City's pop entertainment bigtime. Rae Dawn Chong co-stars as Double K's artistic and academic love interest, along with a slew of the era's biggest Hip-Hop and R&B artists, including Grandmaster Melle Mel and the Furious Five, Afrika Bombaataa, Doug E.
