On Christimas eve of 1945, George and Jennie Sodder, and 9 of their 10 children were getting ready for Christmas day. They all eventually went to sleep, but around 1am, they were awoken to the smell of smoke – their house was on fire. 4 of the 9 family members inside managed to make it out of the house. Which meant that the other 5 never came out. You would assume as investigators did, that these children unfortunately died in the home that night. But things are not always so straightforward.
