Moms often find themselves as the keepers of not only their hair but also their kids. From learning new styles to prepping for different events and everything in between to ensure kids hair is well kept, caring for a child’s hair adds another dynamic to the parent-child relationship. Join us for today’s chat with mother and daughter Kethia and Kennedy as we discuss how Kethia has navigated caring for her kid’s hair and hear a child’s perspective from Kennedy on her journey growing up with natural hair.
Kethia is a non-profit leader balancing life as a loving wife and mother of two children. She's been natural since college, but became more intentional with her haircare and styles after having her daughter Kennedy in 2013. Kethia wants to model authenticity for her daughter and she believed it started with the way she wore her hair. From wash n go's to braids and Wigs, Kethia proudly showcases the versatility of a Black woman's hair. This pride has been instilled in Kennedy who loves to wear her hair in protective styles due to her busy schedule. Kennedy has a strong appreciation for sloths, sports, art, and pasta.
