Description

People who meet Stephanie Olschner can't help but notice the light she brings to every room she enters.

Rumi said, "The wound is the place where the light enters you."

Stephanie faced a tsunami of wounds and what she calls, "Rip your heart out kind of pain." First, the loss of her beloved grandmother. Next, a pregnancy ended in heartbreak; her child was stillborn at nine months. Other family stressors combined to bring her to the end of herself."

It was judgment day for me," she says. A spiritual awakening changed her; causing her to reflect on not what happened to her but on what she could do to live in harmony with God.

Through immersing herself in health - physical, mental, and emotional - her inner circle changed, and so did her life. She gained tools to heal and then felt called to help others.

How is she different? "Now I see through the eyes of loving compassion," she says. "I am less judgmental." Using spiritual tools like meditation and practicing non-attachment, she now sees life through the lens of, "It is all a gift" and encourages those going through a dark time to "Show up for yourself. Because the light is still there."

BIG questions are raised in this interview about trust when bad things happen; about the perspective of time; and about seeing life from a higher vantage point. Interestingly, it's not so much about arriving at answers as it is about the comfort in sharing stories that let us know we are not alone.

To that end, if you know of someone whose story of pain turned into something meaningful, please send them my way: brenda@brendaviola.com
