On today's episode, we are joined by Crystal Folk, LMFT in a powerful conversation on trauma and psychoeducation on Brainspotting. Brainspotting identifies trauma, negative emotions, and pain, including physical pain. Therapists guide the patient’s eyes with a pointer. The direction in which people look can affect the way they feel. Brainspotting helps doctors identify triggers for a traumatic memory or negative emotion.
Crystal is Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of CA, she has been a therapist for 14 years, and is comfortable supporting clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, self-esteem, and issues of grief and loss. She has helped people navigate the complex aftermath that results from physical trauma or emotional abuse.
Crystal's counseling style is warm and interactive. She believe in treating everyone with respect, being sensitive, and meeting each client in the space that they are in. Her counseling approach pulls from several theories, but primarily uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, and Client Centered Therapies.
