A lifetime of feeling excluded can lead to a hardening of the spirit, to the point where you cannot even imagine being accepted for who you are. In an unexpected place, Jesus found someone with a long list of reasons she didn’t belong, so he offered her what she couldn’t find anywhere else: himself.
