The Father’s Heart interview with Dave Henderson, an evangelist in the DC area for over 40 years. We discuss the impact of fatherlessness in the Black Community in the inner city in DC (District of Columbia). Further, we discuss the social impact the Feminist Movement and NOW (National Organization of Women) to emasculate men; curtail men developing into fathers, and the elimination of the father from the family; thus cascading the disintegration of the family as a social unit in our society.
The effect of having missing fathers from families renders the families economically with poverty. The main source of poverty in the inner city is the absence of fathers who provide for their families. This deleterious effect is further exacerbated by government intervention through the welfare system which creates dependence on the government. The government requirement for assistance presumes and demands the absence of fathers. This system serves to destroy human dignity and freedom which was historically derived from personal responsibility and self-reliance. The predominant tenets of fatherhood is the desire to “protect and provide” for their families. This perspective and attitude is missing in homes without fathers.
The various effects fatherlessness has on our society are discussed as they impact the Seven Mountains of Influence in our society: Family, Economy, Religion, Media, Government, Education, and Sports and Entertainment.
The purpose of our discussion is to give listeners hope. Not only to identify the issues surrounding fatherlessness, but more importantly to propose solutions that shows how the love of God the Father will help our families overcome the negative effects of fatherlessness on our human relationships. Our Father gives us solutions to help us build our families, communities and nation into a society wherein love and truth can prosper. When men and women turn their hearts to God the Father; He will bring the hearts of the fathers to their children; and the hearts of children to their fathers. (Mal. 4:6).
