This week on Random Trek, Captain Ingle and I set course for what might arguably be the worst season of Star Trek ever: The Next Generation, season 1. However, there are the occasional bright spots in an otherwise lackluster season. In the episode The Big Goodbye, we're introduced to the possibilities of the holodeck. One of Captain Picard's pastimes is reading about the fictional 1940's detective Dixon Hill, and in this episode that pastime comes to life on the holodeck.
