George Lucas' space opera is meant to be a morality play for 12-year-olds set in a weird and wacky galaxy full of strange creatures and even stranger sights. It was meant to be ridiculous, even though it did present some very important ideas and lessons. In recent years it seems to me that the online discourse surrounding Star Wars has become too serious, thus taking away from the fun that this galaxy is supposed to induce.
