In this episode, we are thrilled to have the incredibly talented Alexa Elmy as our guest. Alexa is a NYC-based actor, voiceover artist, and audiobook narrator, whose creative journey began in Connecticut. With a BA in Theatre and a concentration in Performance from Fordham University, and training from prestigious institutions such as the London Dramatic Academy, Stella Adler Studio of Acting, New York Film Academy, and Greenwich Performing Arts Studio, Alexa's artistic prowess knows no bounds.
Alexa's recent acting credits include the TV show Shattered (Investigation Discovery), Innards (Troma Ent.), Nothing’s Plenty For Me (Theatre Row), and Ray Gun Say0nara (New Ohio Theatre). Her solo show, Alexa, Play, a comedic yet thought-provoking piece about the challenges of sharing her name with Amazon's AI, premiered internationally at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August after debuting at Theatre Row during the United Solo Festival in 2023. It even became a Semi-Finalist in the 2023 Screencraft Stage Play Writing Competition! 🎭
Beyond the stage and screen, Alexa narrates audiobooks for Tantor Media and bedtime stories for the Get Sleepy podcast. Her voice has featured in projects for Citizens Bank, Google, PwC, Blue Buffalo, and the American Cancer Society, among others. Alexa is also a skilled playwright, painter, pianist, and singer who loves to travel in her spare time. ✈️
Alexa, Play follows the weekly meetings of Alexas Anonymous, a support group run by the determined and resilient Alexa, whose life has been upended by Amazon’s use of her name. This play, blending humor with critical social themes like identity, sexism, and capitalism, exposes the deeper struggles beneath Alexa's motivated facade.
