Description

Discover how to pray scriptures over yourself and anyone. We take you through Psalms 40 Lectio Divina style (see notes below), and see how God's Word is not meant to support our perspective; it's meant to change our perspective.

Scripture:

Psalm 40:1-5NIV

1 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.

2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.

3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him.

4 Blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.

5 Many, LORD my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.

Isaiah 33:6; 1 Corinthians 3:11, Ephesians 2:19-20- God, Jesus Christ, is our Firm Foundation

Definition: Rhema-

Got Questions? "There are two primary Greek words that describe Scripture which are translated “word” in the New Testament. The first, logos, refers principally to the total inspired Word of God and to Jesus, who is the living Word. Logos is found in John 1:1Luke 8:11Philippians 2:16Hebrews 4:12; and other verses. The second Greek word translated “word” is rhema, which refers to the spoken word. Rhema literally means an utterance (individually, collectively or specifically). Examples are found in Luke 1:383:25:5; and Acts 11:16."

Christ Embacy Arlington- "In Greek, the Word Rhema means "an utterance" therefore, the Rhema word speaks to a believer. A Rhema word is received while reading the Bible about something that applies to a current situation or need. In essence, the Rhema word is timely and extremely valuable in a Christian's walk with God."

Christianity.com- "The rhema word can happen when you’re reading a particular passage of Scripture, perhaps one you have seen many times before, and you see it in a new light and see how it applies to your life personally."
