Hal Jordan has been through a lot as Green Lantern, none worse than the lose of Cost City thanks to the hands of Mongul. So he did what anyone would do, recreate the city, kill the guardians of the universe along with all his friends, rename himself Parallax and become a villain hellbent on changing the universe in his image.... And then die and become the Spectre. Of course.
When all this is going on, how do you write a story that, not only makes Hal Jordan a good guy again, but doesn't just steam-roll over all the work the previous writers created. You bring in Geoff Johns and give us Green Lantern: Rebirth.
