A Father’s Responsibility
In the Book of Genesis, God declared that Abraham shall surely be a great nation and become the father of all the nations of the earth and they shall be blessed in Him. Then He declared, for I know him, that he will command his children and his household to follow after Him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him (Gen. 18:17-19). There are a number of descriptions given of a father in the Word of God. A father is:
The Provider – the father is charged with providing for his family. Paul says that if a man will not provide for his own, he has denied the faith and is worse than an Infidel. He told the Thessalonians that if a man would not work neither should he eat. It is the responsibility of the Father to provide food and shelter for his family. The entrance of sin into life meant that man had to earn his living by the sweat of his brow.
