Time
What is the real meaning of time?
a. : the measured or measurable period during which an action, process, or condition exists or continues : duration. b. : a nonspatial continuum that is measured in terms of events which succeed one another from past through present to future.
What is the prophetic meaning of time?
In the Old Testament, time is viewed as prophetic and looks forward to the kingdom of heaven being restored by the coming of the Messiah (kingdom coming). In the New Testament, time is viewed as apocalyptic (kingdom initiated by Jesus, but not fully realized until His Parousia at the eschaton—the end of all things)!
In many cultures, clocks are used to mark the passage of time and the changing of the seasons. In some religions, clocks are used to signal the time for prayer or worship. In conclusion, clocks have played an important role in human culture, serving as symbols of time, mortality, and the passage of life.
Rather, God is in some third kind of relation to time. One in-between position is that God is not within our time, but he is within his own time. In this view, God's inner life is sequential and, therefore, temporal, but his relation to our temporal sequence is “all at once.” In a sense, God has his own time line.
Why is time important to God?
Because God is sovereign over time all the time, He will be overseeing and working to make the most and best of every situation for us. Time is important to us, but with God, it is not an overriding issue. There is time because He is involved and wants the most and best for us.
In the New Testament, kairos means "the appointed time in the purpose of God," the time when God acts (e.g. Mark 1:15: the kairos is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand). There are two main types of time mentioned in the Bible: chronos and kairos. Chronos is how we think of time—as we measure it on clocks, seconds, minutes, hours, etc. It is measurable time. Kairos time is different. It teaches us something vital about God’s kingdom and trusting God’s timing.
