The Faith Principle of Sowing & Reaping
“Be Not Deceived”
Scripture Reference: Galatians 6:6-9
v.6 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Commentary: To share all good things refers to money. The members of a church should pay the person who teaches them. Paul taught more about this in 1 Timothy 5:17-18.
v.7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap.
• Deceived – to be misled, fooled, or tricked into believing what is not true.
• Mocked – ridiculed, scorn, or taunted; treated with contempt or disrespect.
• Sows – to plant seed in order to get a return or harvest; to scatter or spread.
• Reap – to gather as a consequence of previous effort or action; to earn, or gain.
Commentary: Paul wanted to emphasize what he was saying here. Someone can cheat another person. But nobody can cheat God. Paul used a farmer as his example. A farmer plants seeds in his fields. If he plants corn, then he will harvest corn from that field. If he plants potatoes, then he will harvest potatoes from that field. So, the farmer receives what he deserves. Verses 7-10 probably continue what Paul taught about money in verse 6.
