Our speaker this week is Emily Drabinski, the current president of the American Library Association.

She is Associate Professor at the Queens College Graduate School of Library and Information Studies, and publishes and presents widely on topics related to knowledge organization, information literacy, and critical perspectives in librarianship.

Drabinski edits Gender and Sexuality in Information Studies, a book series from Library Juice Press/Litwin Books. She is a contributing writer at Truthout.

Professor Drabinski holds an MLIS from Syracuse University, a BA in political science from Columbia University and an MA in composition and rhetoric from Long Island University, Brooklyn.

With her work in the American Library Association, Professor Drabinski has encountered all manner of fascinating and innovative programs libraries have launched to serve their communities.
