Description

Today's topic is about a the tough subject of Child abuse. What are the signs and what can you do?

Abuse can be sexual, physical, emotional, mental, verbal, and child trafficking.

A child may regress, become angry, suicidal, use self-harm, drugs/alcohol. Grades may suffer. They may become fearful or angry around a certain person/people. They may have nightmares.

The long term affects can be health issues, relationship issues, drug/alcohol abuse, negative body image, no or low self-esteem. They may repeat the harmful behavior on their own and abuse others.

Find help or report with your local law enforcement. Talk to Supervisor if this is in a work situation.  If this is with a family member/significant other you may want to keep a paper trail if you are unsure. Never coach a child. Let them use their own words. If this is happening in your home the best thing to do is to leave before it's too late.

Contact therapist/counselor for healing. Hold space and listen to the child. Believe them. Reassure them. Know it will take time to heal. Check out the resources below for assistance.

Stay safe!

Someone out there needs to know they are not alone and that they can survive. Perhaps you are a parent or friend of someone trapped in an abusive relationship and need to know how to help. My goal is to share awareness, offer empowerment, and educate others about emotional traumas and domestic abuse. Here I will share my story and also stories of courage and healing from Survivors, Coaches, to Therapists/Counselors.
