"Why does she stay?!" "Why doesn't she just leave?"
I asked this question to some BRAVE spirits and I am sharing their responses. The names are changed out of respect and confidentiality.
Grace says:
"The main reason, in the beginning, was because I had been given some unhealthy beliefs in terms of Christian marriage....that you don't talk about the problems in your marriage to other people, you need to be forgiving, you need to be submissive, etc.
I was also dependent on him because I was living in his country, a place very different from the U.S.
Later, it was all about the fact that I had a child with him and I don't want her to have to be away from me. We are divorced now but navigating the custody issue."
