Description

Today I am excited to be joined by Dr. Leisha Strachan (2:04). Dr. Strachan is the associate dean of research and graduate studies and a professor at the University of Manitoba. "Dr. Strachan’s research interests focus on positive youth development in sport. Specifically, she is interested in examining the experiences and various outcomes of children and youth in recreational to high performance sport programs. Currently, Dr. Strachan is working on two SSHRC-funded projects: PYD Sport NET (a project that will spread the work about positive youth development through sport around the country) and exploring cultural relevancy with Indigenous youth regarding positive youth development through sport." (1). On top of this, she is also on the managing council of the Canadian Sport Psychology Association as the chair of diversity and inclusion, and a former World Championships level athlete in baton twirling.

During the interview, myself and Dr. Strachan discuss some topics including:

- How inclusive environments help foster positive youth development

- The role of a coach in developing inclusive environments

+ much more!
