Description

On episode 55 of the Mental Dive Podcast, I am excited to be joined by Ethan Haider (1:51). Ethan is a Nashville Predators draft pick, being selected 148th overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Since being selected by Nashville, he has went on to become the starting goaltender for the Clarkson University Golden Knight’s Men’s Ice Hockey Team, posting a .921 SVV as a rookie and winning the 2021 NCAA (ECAC) Rookie of the Year.

While he experienced early success, it did not come without its adversities. Ethan began the season letting in 6 goals on 20 shots, in what felt like the end of the world in that moment. However, he learned to work through the adversity through consulting with his Goalie Coach and eventually a Sport Psychologist. Through learning how to let the game come to him, mentally reset and foster deliberate practice habits, it allowed him to give his best performances on a more consistent basis and have what was a phenomenal rookie season.
