Wetlands are the small environments of plant life and organisms found within water bodies that bring about ecological health in abundance to not only water bodies but environments as a whole. World Wetlands Day is an environmentally related celebration which dates back to the year of 1971 when several environmentalists gathered to reaffirm the protection and love for wetlands.
In this special interview with Forest Ranger Mr. Sathish, we get to know about the wetlands in India and their distribution. He explains about the Ramsar Convention, which is an international treaty to conserve and sustainably use wetlands. He also talks about the status of wetlands in Ramanathapuram District.
