*ATTENTION GYMNASTICS COACHESThis week's episode of Heated Conversations addresses the area of Vault! Specifically, training proper running techniques to create more speed and power to be able to translate to a more dynamic vault and safe vault. Will Collins of Fast University track and field coach out of Houston, Texas, talks about how much track and gymnastics correlate. The proper training for sprinting, I believe, helps athletes of all levels be able to have an opportunity to reach their potential on the vault and to be able to train the whole comment on the vault. As gymnastic coaches, we train the entry, table, off-the-table, and landings but may miss what is producing the ability to have all those techniques work. 80-85% of the vault is done on the runway.
