Gymnastics Doc Ian Crider joins the podcast to have a great conversation today.
Dr. Ian Crider is a physical therapist specializing in keeping gymnasts healthy, happy, and safe!
He was a gymnast for 16 years (including 4 years of NCAA) and has been a coach for 15 years. Now as a PT, he helps coaches with their planning and programming, parents take care of their gymnasts better, and gymnasts with their injuries and limitations.
We discuss many different topics related to gymnastics development. Ian talks about how periodization in training plans is very important to set up athletes properly with intentional de-load weeks to prevent overuse injuries. We also discuss how different types of stretching are important. The way we may think about our sport can be different after this conversation.
