"The Secret Place" by Tomie de Paola
It was my secret place
down at the foot of my bed
under the covers.
It was very white.
I went there with a book, a flashlight,
and the special pencil
that my grandfather gave me.
To read--
and to draw pictures
on all that white.
It was my secret place
for about a week--
Until my Mother came
to change the sheets.
Hi, I’m Grace, and this is the Peter Piper Picked a Peck of Pickled Poems Podcast. It’s a poetry podcast by a kid, for kids. Are you ready for today’s Pickled Poem?
Email pickledpoemspodcast@gmail.com and let me know what you thought about today's episode. I’d love to hear YOUR favorite poem, too, so make sure to include that in the email and it might show up in a future episode. Make sure your parents have subscribed to this podcast, and ask them to leave a rating and review so more kids and families can enjoy pickled poems.
Oh, and I should mention that this podcast is sponsored
by the Homeschool Conversations with Humility and Doxology podcast, which is hosted by my Mom. So if you have a parent listening, they should probably check that one out, too.
Now go pick a peck of pickled poems! I’ll see you next
week!
