Description

Welcome to Episode #11 of Simple Steps for the Whole You.

Today, Michelle and Lisa are excited to discuss their personal connections to adoption, as November is National Adoption Awareness Month.

Michelle tells a beautiful story of being able to support a dear friend before, during, and after an international adoption. She shares her friends heartfelt sentiments of how adopting her daughter has led her to a deeper understanding of God’s love and adoption of us. The sacrificial love that makes us children and no longer orphans.

Lisa tells how she and her husband adopted their two beautiful daughters. She also shares what her teenage daughters would like others to be aware of when talking about adoption and when interacting with someone who is adopted. Well-meaning people say some very hurtful things. Listen in on how you can learn to be more aware and sensitive with your words.

Lisa references the book, Twenty Things Adopted Kids Wish Their Adoptive Parents Knew by Sherrie Eldridge. https://a.co/d/bzRFEsf

What simple step could you take to support adoption?

-Pray—-there a lot of unknowns involved with adoption. Prayer

is a beautiful and powerful way to support all those involved with adoption.

-Avoid assumptions, ask questions, be curious.

- Visit a family who has a new child in their home. Perhaps bring a meal or even a small practical gift for the child.
