We're over halfway through the first (and only) season of the failed Ferris Bueller spin-off, and it remains consistent! Today it's episodes 7 and 8, where we learn that Ferris isn't always perfect and schoolgirls love a guy with a bad accent. WEW!
In episode 7, titled "Ferris Bueller Can't Win," Sloane thinks Ferris has a "black aura" which explains all of the bad things happening around him. Just before school, Ferris and Sloane take a British black cab to a bookstore where Sloane is having an astrology book signed by a woman who is very concerned that Ferris is "Leo rising." Although he is "the Ferris of them all," it turns out to be a tough day when they find their cab driver, Jeffrey, can't take them the rest of the way to school. He survived the Falklands and everything! Things only get worse for Ferris when he finds himself trapped with Rooney in Noriega's panic room after an earthquake rocks the area. At least Rooney gets shot out of the HVAC vents.
Episode 8 "Sloane Again, Naturally" gives us a foreign exchange student, Giancarlo, supposedly from Italy. You won't be able to tell from his accent, which shifts from Russian to French to Bronx all within the span of a single conversation. He's winning over all the ladies in this one, including Sloane who is all aboard the feminist train until she discovers Giancarlo is a fraud. Jeannie, on the other hand, is getting no attention from him whatsoever, even after getting absolutely nailed by a soccer ball, which turns her into a man with a slightly darker complexion as she falls into a mud pit. We also get a school dance where Grace attempts to put the moves on Rooney, and a lovely topiary from Ferris (who knew?)
So grab 6-7 tubs of ice cream, put on your chicken suit, and gaze admirably at your own funeral arrangement, because we're diving in. Just make sure to watch your cholesterol! We're going full Ferris on this one, but you can still put on your listening helmet and join us for the recap. You can watch the playlist here, or you could just take our word for it.
