It's time to dive back into Ferris Bueller, and we're creeping up on the end of the (only) season. What's better than meeting your second husband at your first husband's funeral? How about Grandma Margaret rocking a fish hat while working at a seafood joint? Just two of the many delights awaiting you in episodes 9 and 10 of the Ferris Bueller TV trainwreck.
In episode 9, "Scenes from a Grandma," Ferris' grandmother Margaret (Cloris Leachman) is staying with the family for a while and we learn of the unconventional love story of how Margaret met husband #2 Charlie over the dead body of hubby #1. Meanwhile, Jeannie's hanging with a motorcycle dude named JB (creativity abounds), and Rooney professes his love for "a woman who eats her young." Rooney hatches a plan to encircle the school with razor wire, creating a roach motel with gun towers, but Ferris masterfully hacks the school budget to thwart his nefarious scheme. Foiled again, Rooney!
Episode 10, "Stand-In Deliver," features a guest appearance by Carla Gugino (Son in Law, Entourage) as Ann, Cameron's new girlfriend. Her dad? None other than David Graf, aka Tackleberry from Police Academy. Cameron tries to woo Ann by ordering milk in Spanish - "dos leches, por favor" (be still, my beating heart). Sloane suggests getting "sweaty and knocking down some wood," while Cameron can't bowl without perfect conditions. Ferris' mom is sanding cabinets to cope with Bill's fond memories of his first love. But the real drama? Ann falling for Ferris, despite dating Cameron. In the end, Ferris uses basketball to distract heartbroken Cam.
Oh, and let's not forget Grandma, who not only sports a fetching fish hat but also keeps a Patrick Swayze mag under her pillow (scandalous!) She draws the line at the boys' Baja 4-wheeling dreams though. Priorities.
