Description

Get ready to hit the road with us as we dive into the 2024 remake of the classic action flick, Road House. In this episode, we follow Dalton (Jake Gyllenhaal), a tough-as-nails bouncer with anger management issues, as he navigates the treacherous waters of the fictional Glass Key, filmed primarily in the Dominican Republic (except for that one scene on the Seven Mile Bridge in the actual Florida Keys).

When Dalton takes a job at the notorious Road House bar, he quickly realizes that this isn't your average watering hole. With the villainous Ben Brandt and his gang of nautical ne'er-do-wells, including Dell (who eventually becomes crocodile chow), causing trouble at every turn (even while Brandt attempts to get a straight razor shave on choppy waters), it's up to our hero to clean up the joint and restore order to the key.

But things take a wild turn when Knox, played by a naked Conor McGregor, enters the picture, bringing with him a mysterious past and a penchant for strutting through the streets of Mexico. As the tension mounts and the stakes rise, Dalton must rely on his wits, fists, and the comfort of his trusty boat, cleverly named "The Boat."

Along the way, we're treated to jaw-dropping fight scenes (if you can follow the CGI and camera work), inconsistent mile markers, and a Post Malone cameo that'll have you saying, "Wow." And let's not forget the Double Deuce restaurant next to Glass Books, a clever nod to the original film.

So grab your sunscreen and some dynamite, practice your best "I don't want to get angry" catchphrase, and join us as we compare this action-packed remake to the original classic. Just remember, in this town, the Coast Guard is nowhere to be found when Dalton blows up a yacht in the flats, and climbing the Seven Mile Bridge ladder is apparently a breeze for Knox.

Huge disclaimer - we're recapping the whole thing, and seeing as how it came out this year, be warned that there are all the spoilers. You can watch the film on Prime Video, and we would recommend having seen the original as well.
