Welcome to Municipal Affairs
Last month, we had the opportunity to travel to Haines Junction, Yukon, to take part in a major milestone — the 50th anniversary of the Association of Yukon Communities.
Over three days, more than 150 delegates from across the territory gathered to talk about shared challenges, common goals, and the future of their communities.
One theme that came up again and again was the need for more support around recreation — how vital programs and spaces are to the health and wellbeing of Yukon communities.
During the convention, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Caroline Sparks from the Recreation and Parks Association of the Yukon, or RPAY.
We talked about the work RPAY is doing to empower Yukoners to lead active, healthy lives- and how they’re partnering with communities, organizations, and governments to create better recreation opportunities across the territory.
