Series: Jesus' Guidance for Prayer
Scripture: Matthew 6:9-13, Micah 6:6-8
Some things in life are so simple or come so naturally that we do not need guidance or instructions to do them. Prayer is not one of those things. In one sense prayer is very simple: It is talking to and listening to God. However, without guidance prayer can be whiny, narcissistic, manipulative and self-serving. Jesus understood this, so he gave us guidance for prayer. The church has come to call that guidance "The Lord's Prayer." In this series were take a long, close look at the Lord's Prayer so we can better understand and practice the guidance Jesus gives us.
This sermon was originally preached to Chester UMC on 7/21/24. It is substantially similar to "Loving Kindness (Rock Springs UMC)." For a more kid-friendly version, check out "Loving Kindness KID-FRIENDLY (New Beginnings UMC)."
