Naoya Inoue’s return to the United States was successful but not without drama. Inoue improved to 30-0 (27KOs) but he had to rally. The 2nd Round saw Inoue get knocked down for the second time in his career with a counter left hook. From there Inoue got up and engaged in a war. Both fighters took some heavy shots but Inoue got his revenge back in the 7th Round with a knockdown. Cardenas got up but eventually the referee stopped the fight in the 8th Round award Inoue with his 12th consecutive KO victory.
