Acomi and Turk182 turn their critical and personal perspective historical eyes towards Disney. Looking back on Disney going from the late 70s and into the 80s, when the House of Mouse stopped making silver screen animated features. Moving into the Disney Renaissance, 1989 - 1999, when Disney regained it's title of animation king.

But, Disney's success with movies like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King they started using a formula for success, and stopped experimenting with movies like Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Treasure Planet. Using the Disney formula makes the company a lot of money and opens the door for mass merchandising. But, what about animation fans who don't care about rewritten fairy tale musicals?

Why not make more edgy offbeat, nonconventional movies like The Emperor's New Groove, Lilo & Stitch, Chicken Little, and Meet the Robinsons?
