God established the Sabbath as a day of rest acknowledging He is the Great Provider and we can rest and trust Him.
Over the years the religious leaders have added their ideas of how to apply the law to their lives. Often religion is a man made way to control people.
Jesus understands the purpose of the law. The law shows us we need God’s help to lead a righteous life. When we try to live according to the law on our own strength, we fail.
Jesus says: “If you had known what these words mean, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent. For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”” - Matthew 12:7-8 NIV
We are the people who know we need God’s mercy and should be those who extend God’s mercy to others.
