Jesus takes Peter, James, and John with him to the Garden of Gethsemane and asks them to pray with him as he was “overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death.” (Matthew 26:38)
The disciples fell asleep.
In contrast, Jesus prayed: “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.” (Matthew 26:42 NIV)
