On this episode, I dive into a topic that is real, raw, and honestly a bit uncomfortable: being angry with God. It's something I've struggled with my whole life—anger at people, the world, myself, and even at God. Today, I'm sharing my journey with anger, how it complicated my relationship with God, and how I learned to navigate those emotions in a way that draws me closer to Him rather than pushing me away.

Main Points:

  1. Struggling with Anger Toward God:

    • Anger is a natural emotion, but it becomes complicated when directed at God. I was angry at the things He allowed in my life and the world. I questioned His plans and His sovereignty, leading to cycles of guilt and frustration.
  2. Understanding God's Response to Our Doubt:

    • God is not surprised or upset by our doubts or anger. Just like Thomas doubted Jesus' resurrection until he saw Him, God understands our struggles. Our anger often comes from doubting His plans, but God is not angry at us for questioning Him.
  3. Breaking Free from the Guilt Cycle:

    • Sitting in guilt over our anger or doubts keeps us stuck. Philippians 4:6 reminds us to turn our worries and doubts into prayers and supplications. Instead of drowning in guilt, we should be honest with God about our feelings.
  4. The Danger of Unresolved Anger:

    • Ephesians 4:26-27 teaches us to "be angry and do not sin" and not to let the sun go down on our anger. The focus isn't on suppressing emotions but on dealing with them in a timely manner to prevent bitterness and resentment.
  5. Steps to Handle Anger with God:

    • Accept Your Anger: Let yourself feel it. Write it down if you need to.
    • Express Your Feelings to God: Be honest and open with Him. God loves when we trust Him with all parts of ourselves.
    • Repent and Seek Forgiveness: Thank God for listening and ask for guidance to move forward.
    • Accept His Forgiveness: Don't let guilt hold you back. Accept that He has forgiven you.
    • Show Gratitude: Gratitude increases intimacy with God and helps process anger.
    • Repeat as Needed: This is an ongoing process. It’s normal to feel angry again; what matters is how we handle it.
  6. Encouragement to Be Honest with God:

    • God isn't like humans; He won't react with anger or disappointment. Instead, He meets us with love and understanding. Trusting Him with our anger and emotions deepens our relationship with Him.
