Dr. McNeil graduated with his Doctor of Social Work degree from the University of Alabama in Advanced Clinical practice summa cum laude. He is passionate about Black male wellness and is a plant based yogi, that is also a hip-hop hiker. He used this passion for his DSW capstone. He wrote up a yoga project for Black men and his capstone was about supporting Black male social work faculty with holistic health.
He is descendant of American chattel slavery and Jim Crow refugees via the Great Migration.
He maintained a 4.0 grade point average, was a faculty member in two different social work programs, did advocacy on Capitol Hill as the first Bama DSW to do so, did a speech at university, served as a DSW Student Rep in faculty meetings, won the DSW Leadership Award, and was a graduate research assistant. He was also selected into Omega Nu Lambda and Phi Alpha (social work) honor societies.
He has undergraduate degrees from Florida A&M University and a graduate degree from Boston College. He intends to get credentialed to teach yoga in the future and plans to innovate healing spaces for Black men.
