It’s 1915 and Adelaide Henry is forced to flee California, making her way to the harsh land of Montana as a homesteader. She has the hopes of proving herself as a “lone woman,” taking advantage of the free land being offered to those who can tame it. However, she isn’t alone. She carries a steamer trunk along with her, always locked, because when it opens, the people around Adelaide start to disappear.
For this spooky month we’re reading Lone Women by Victor LaValle! Up to, but not including, Chapter 36!
