We begin a new journey tonight as we lay the foundation for understanding the instructions contained in Scripture, incorrectly called the law in English. The instructions, statutes, judgements, and commandments allow us to see what a life lived for YHVH looks like.
What do “thou shalt not murder, commit adultery, steal, and bear false witness” really mean? Do we need to honor our parents if they are bad people, and if so, how does that glorify YHVH?
Sometimes words translated from ancient Hebrew into modern English miss the mark a bit, and living in a culture so far removed from the Hebrew culture of 3 or 4 thousand years ago, it is easy to miss some of the finer points.
