Description

“I can remember looking outside and just thinking those exact things, you know, “How is the sun shining? How's the rain falling? How are those people just walking normally? How can they walk normally? You know, those are little memories I would have when I was 16 years old, just because I was in such shock. My dad had tubes coming out of him in every direction and the doctors were saying his brain was damaged hugely and his whole body was damaged and he could hardly walk… He was unconscious and he stayed unconscious for two years. But you know, you just do with strength. I believe that God gave me a lot of that strength. And you really have a choice. You wake up in the morning and make a life, or you can wake up in the morning, and, I don't mean to say some people don't have the capacity to wake up and make it a good day, you know, because I firmly believe in depression and people that need help with that, I am so supportive of that. But thank goodness I somehow had the wherewithal to rise and be where I needed to be, you know, at that time. But I didn't know any different, I didn't know there was a choice. I mean, it wasn't; my brother took off and became a musician in California. That's kind of how he handled it. But I stayed and, you know, and nothing against him, but that fit him better.”
