“Being on the tools is actually quite liberating. And I've gone from the beautiful suit and the tie and the whole business look, walking in and getting, ‘yes sir, no sir, three bags full’. Now I'm a filthy tradie. And people talk to you like you're stupid. And it's quite funny, you know, so they have no idea of you. And that's I guess a lesson in life - not to judge the old book by the cover. Plenty of millionaires going around in dodgy cars. Not that I'm a millionaire, but that's the sort of thing. So you get treated quite differently because you're wearing a paint spatted t-shirt and you look a bit grubby. So that's quite liberating just to meet people and I have a theory, and it probably relates to your podcast, that everyone's got a story.
Take the time to listen, take the time to talk to them. Everyone's got a story probably different to yours, so we probably need to spend more time listening, talking and finding out what people's stories are because people are a lot less boring than you think.”
