God in His Holy Righteousness had to appease His wrath, pay the penalty of our sin, before He could justly forgive sin. So God in love sent His Son. & It’s important, Jesus willingly went to the cross to pay for our sins & bear the wrath of God. Then He Rose from the dead fully paying the debt of sin.
That means that God’s wrath is turned away from us— those who deserve it— by the provision of One who takes it in our place: God Himself, Jesus!
