Fr Sam reflects on the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, exploring how this moment in the Temple fulfilled ancient prophecies and revealed God’s faithfulness to His people. While many in Jerusalem overlooked the significance of Mary and Joseph bringing the child Jesus into the Temple, the aged Simeon, moved by the Holy Spirit, recognised that the long-awaited glory of God had returned.
This feast reminds us that we serve a God who keeps His promises—even when He seems distant, even when we feel spiritually dry. Just as the Jewish people longed for God’s presence, we too can find ourselves waiting in hope, yearning for renewal in our faith.
As we approach the 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope, Fr Sam challenges us to welcome Christ anew—especially through the Sacrament of Confession. Just as the sun reveals the dust on a windshield, encountering Jesus reveals both our dignity and our need for His mercy. Rather than turning away, we are called to step into the light, be renewed in grace, and allow God to restore His presence in the temple of our hearts.
This homily is an invitation to hope, renewal, and transformation. Are we ready to let Christ enter?
