Description

In this episode, Lisa discusses her journey to becoming an improvisation comic, podcaster, speaker, and author. Oh yeah, she also works for the police department in records and dispatch!

Growing up with an alcoholic and abusive mother meant a roller coaster of ups and downs not knowing which mother she was going to encounter at any given time. This led to her love of Carol Burnett, who she credits with raising her, and improv. She found watching comedy was a way to escape the chaos and she learned the power and joy of making people laugh. To her, comedy serves both as a deflection but also as a career.

When it comes to being an author, she said she dared herself to do it because it scared her and she didn't feel smart enough. This is the way she approaches life and, in fact, stated "always do those things that make you sweat in the weird places and make your heart pitty pat just a couple spots faster so you know you're doing the stuff you were put on this big old green and blue marble to do." In a nutshell, that's who Lisa is.
