Transphobia consists of negative attitudes, feelings, or actions towards transgender people or transness in general. Transphobia can include fear, aversion, hatred, violence or anger towards people who do not conform to social gender roles. Transphobia is a type of prejudice and discrimination, similar to racism, sexism, or ableism, and it is closely associated with homophobia. This episode is about a hate crime and murder of a Trans woman, Shelby Tracy Tom who was a well-liked future social worker in North Vancouver perpetrated by Jatin Patel, a long term criminal who had arrived back in Canada the very same day he would take Shelby's life.
