Description

In this episode of "Breaking the Binary," we delve into identity, success and being an expert with Dr. Jessica Allen.

Dr Jessica Allen is currently a Senior Lecturer in Chemical and Renewable Energy Engineering at the University of Newcastle. Her research focuses on developing technology that can use renewable electricity for manufacturing green products from steel and aluminium to carbon and fuels like hydrogen and ammonia. Dr Allen is an engineer, a proud Novocastrian and mum of two (three if you include the dog…) who enjoys mountain biking and tap dancing.

We talk about the question asked to kids “what do you want to be when you grow up?”. How building an identity as an adult is often about more than work, having multiple careers and focusing our energy on what bring us value and what problems we want to solve in the world.
