Description

CoachTools is proud to preset Episode 61 of First Down, featuring Coach Ben Luther. Luther is the offensive line coach at East Central Community College in Mississippi. He brings years of experience to the Warrior offensive line with coaching experience at multiple levels of collegiate football.

Luther played at Pearl River Community College before graduating in 2010 and continuing his education at Ole Miss where he majored in exercise science. During his time in Oxford, Luther began his coaching career as a volunteer at Oxford High School and intern at the Olympic Weight Room where he assisted with multiple Ole Miss sports.

Upon graduation, Luther interned in the University of Alabama weight room for one season in 2012 under the direction of Nick Saban where he worked exclusively with the offensive line with strength and conditioning.

Luther empathized the importance of networking and mentorship in the football coaching profession. He advises young coaches to focus on people rather than just strategies and schemes, to be approachable, simple, and understanding in communication with players. Luther also stresses the importance of patience, firmness, and understanding when dealing with different personalities and backgrounds, and advises enjoying the journey and finding a supportive environment. Thank you to Coach Luther for sharing his experience with the First Down by CoachTools community.
