Episode 64 of First Down by CoachTools featured Coach Zane Quesenberry. Coach Q is the head football coach at Fort Chiswell High School in Virginia. During his first season as head coach in 2023, he was nominated as the Mountain Empire District Coach of the Year.

Prior to starting his coaching career, Quesenberry played D-III college football, one season at Emory & Henry College (VA) followed by 2 seasons at Maryville College (TN). At Maryville College, he was a part of back-to-back USA-South Conference Championship teams and in 2013 was a starter in their 1st ever NCAA D-III football playoff appearance.

On this episode of First Down by CoachTools, Coach Quesenberry spoke about his journey into coaching, emphasizing the importance of learning, stepping out of one's comfort zone, and not being afraid of rejection. He shared his personal setback of rupturing his Achilles tendon and his recent recognition as coach of the year, encouraging others to persist in their goals. He advised young coaches to study the game, get out of their comfort zone, network, and build a coaching community.
